Message: I was looking at changing my headlights to the new Sylvania Silverstar. Does anyone have any comments on these or any other headlight? I know that some of the HID and other lights are "fake." I know that Dodge reccomends the Sylvania's, but didn't know if there were any other good quality lights. Thanks in advance.

Message: the Silverstar are one of the best for your Dakota. I have a couple friends who use Silverstar and they say they are nice and bright and worth buying them. Maybe you could even answer a question for me. How do you get to the back of the headlight to change the bulbs? I have a 2002 dodge Dakota Sport.

Message: Well I got the SilverStar's. They are ok, but haven't had my truck that much to really compair them to my old ones. To change the headlight, you have to reach in and around the fender and several other things to get to the back. It is really tough. My '98 should be the same set up as your '02. If I had my truck I would take some pictures. If you have a small hand like I do it's not bad, but if not, it will be really tough. You might want to consider removing the turn signal lights (corner lenses). There is a single screw that holds them in on the lower left (for passenger's side) and lower right (for driver's side). You can then pull them out and probably get to the back of the head light easier. Just an idea. If you do that be careful to make sure there is enough wire to remove the corner lenses far enough. Hope that helps some, sorry if that got confusing.

Message: Hey Kyle,I changed mine twice on my 02 DAk,Found it easier to take off the corner lights,1 screw on them and 4 10mm screws takes out the assembly.I tried from the back and a few bloody knuckles later I did it the other way.Took about 10 minutes.

Message: I have 3 Dodges and a ford and all have silverstars, I will never go back, they are whiter and I can see almost as far on lows as the old "long life" bulbs did on high, and when out on the hiway at night, when I hit the hibeams, I can see bright reflections off road signs more then a mile away, never could do that with the old ones. One set is almost 3 years old and still burnin bright, it gets used, on average, 5 hours a week during times when the lights need to be on and still keep on going.
