Hey,
Has anybody put a Leer Tonneau on their Dakota? I am looking at either the 600 or 700 series. Any opions on which series is better? What did you guys pay for yours? I got a quote for a 700 series at around $600. Does anyone recommend an ARE cover instead of a leer? Thanks.

Bill, I have an A.R.E. I looked at the Leer and it
seemed to set farther down on the side then
what I wanted. Looking from the back it was
funny looking. (Stuck out) The A.R.E. looked
better but cost a little more. I put it on my first
2001 QC and I am having it repainted right
now by A.R.E. for my new QC. Good luck with
your choice.

Thanks for the inforamation. I am still not sure what I will do. Are there different models of the ARE? And if so, what kind did you get. Is it also the no-drill installation? Thanks.

Yes no drill installation and only one model.
(LSII) You can get a spoiler that is prety cool
and a electric lock that works with the door
locks. check out

Thanks for the information. That gives me a lot more to go on. I think I even like the profile of the ARE more than the Leer. Do you know how much more expensive the ARE was compared to the Leer for your application? Thanks.

about 100 bucks more. Check out the
difference in the lifts (Hydraulics) and also the
contour lines match the hood of the dakota

I think you have me talked into the ARE. Even though the closet dealer is about an hour farther than the Leer dealer, it looks to me like it is worth it. I will get a quote soon. I really appreciate your help.
