Removing the V6 badges from your fenders will reveal mounting holes that will need to be filled and repainted.

is taking off the dodge letter on the tailgate a bad idea
because of the paint...ie would i have to match since its
about 4/5 years old?

Gaz, are you sure that there a pins in the V6 badge? I thought that the V6/8 emblems were just glued on, and using a thread as a cutter underneath the emblem would remove it.

Ryan, for a 4-5 year old truck, it's a risk. I would say it depends on how well the paint was taken care of. If it's been garage kept and washed and waxed regularly, I would think you'd be OK. If not, some good cleaner wax and a good polishing may be necessary.

I completely de-badged my 02 with no ghosting problems, but it was only a year after I bought it.

Lurkin, I've got an 02 as well and this week I am wanting to debadge my tailgate and my doors. Should i just peel them off? I am thinking it will have a nasty surface underneath and that I'll need to add some paint to cover it up? Am I just thinking of the worst or am I right? Just dont wanna screw my truck up before asking someone who did this already lol

Like I said, I did mine in 03,,, or so. Mine came off with a hair dryer (don't tell the wife!) and a plastic putty knife. After the decals were off, I used some Goo-Gone to clean up the residue from the sides, and any that was underneath.

The decals on the door required a couple cycles of Goo-Gone, let it soak in, wipe off, before it was all gone. The tailgate only required one application and it was clean.

It was quite easy. I'm not sure what a couple more years of aging will do though, but I wouldn't think you'd have any problems.

The v6 emblems have pins. I had mine removed, filled and painted. looks much better. I also had the decals all removed with no problems of fading, amd the truck was about 3-4 years old at the time.

I just removed all the decals from my Black 01 Quad Cab this evening, and it turned out okay.

I haven't seen it in the daylight yet, but I do think there will be a small amount of ghosting. I don't mind, as the paint will be all buffed out later this week anyway, and the ghosting should be removed with that.

It looks very clean now. I plan on putting on a set of the 05 style Ram badges on the fenders in the Hemi badge location (on the Hemi trucks, of course mine is NOT a Hemi...)
