Message: (Michigan) I recently installed a neon blue license plate holder for my car. Are they legal? I have seen them before on the road, and I am curious. I got it at Target, and thinking that Target won't sell something that is illegal, but the package says check with your state to see if this product is legal, so Target can't be at fault anyways if they are illegal.
So anyways, are neon blue license plate holders legal? I have heard before that neon red or blue windshield wipers lights are illegal.

Message: Adam, I live in central Ohio and work at an Auto Zone store. We sell a tone of ttha neon stuff and get a tone of the neon stuff ripped off.lol anyway the local gestapo in our part of the country , sometimes has a problem with the red and blue lights. Have been told that if they are on solid they won't fuss with you,BUT, if they flash,as in a turn signal bulb, then they would pull you over for impersonating an emergency (police car or fire/rescue) vehicle. you might want to double check with the local authorities. All my stuff has disclamers for legistics and or off road use only. Hope this helps. Bill Smith

Message: I live in Alberta, Canada. I've seen a few trucks up here with the clear Euros and so far I don't think there's much of a ticket rampage going on... I was wondering if any of you out there know about CANADIAN laws regarding taillights. I want to put them on my '01 Dakota 4x4....the Altezza chrome ones look really good on blue. I've seen a few done up real nice.

Message: Thanks, RTD2, for the address for the Alberta HTA. I did some reading and it does say as long as you have red lamps (and no obstruction) in your tailights and amber bulbs in front and clear lenses (and no obstruction) then you should be ok in Alberta. So I guess the clear corners might in fact be BENEFICIAL! *lol*

Message: Hey, I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, and it is illegal to have the clear taillights. The Altezza lights are legal though. The reason why the plain white ones are illegal is because of a couple rules in the Motor Vehicle Act. These are:
Reflective Devices:
4.21(1) a vehicle must be equipped with at least one red reflector at the rear of the vehicle, either sperate or incorporated into a tail lamp, that is mounted at a height of not less than 38 cm and not more than 1.83m.
4.21(4) Only red reflectors may be mounted on the rear of a vehicle or on the side of the vehicle at or toward the rear of the vehicle.
This is where the problem comes in, clear taillights have two white reflectors on them, which is against rule 4.21(4), therefore they are illegal. The altezza put in the little red reflector on them, in order for them to be legal. The reason why i know these rules are because a cop tried to ticket me for mine, but did not know the actual rule number and was not allowed to actually fine me, but i looked it up to find out which one it actually was. Im not sure for other places, most should be the same, but you should check your Motor Vehicle Act, because in B.C. they are illegal. Hopefully this helps a bit.
