 Subject: Aftermarket mesh grill

I recently installed a mesh grill incert to the upper and lower openings in my grill and bumper. I can no longer use the factory hood release because the mesh covers it up. i put a piece of aluminum about 10 inches long to extend the latch down so i can reach it under the front of the grill. What other suggestions do people have to remidy this issue.

The best remedy would be the SS grill kit but the other route would be to go to any bicycle pro shop and purchase a thin cable that is enclosed in a rubber casing and then get a small T-handle latch that attaches to it.
