I love this site, so many good idea's in one place. I have been reading about all the homemade grill inserts and thought I would give it a shot (not paying no stinking $200 for a grill). Went to lowes to buy the metal gutter guard that everyone was using and was going to paint it black (i have a silver sport). While I was looking at the guard I noticed a roll of black plastic gutter guard. Hmmm, let's try elcheapo. Cut out all the sections (8 total for upper grill and lower valance), easy to cut with scissors, bought 100 small black zip tighs, slapped them on, and bingo! I did leave the original grill insert on the top four sections, but it still looks pretty good. On the bottom valance drill four holes in each section at 10-2-5-7 oclock (3 on the outside 2 sections), zip them down and there you have it. My only concern is heat from engine, but I have had no problems to date. Does it look as good as the ss grill, no, but that extra 200 plus sure looks good in my wallet. Mayo, that looks great! That was a huge picture though, hard to get an overall look :) It did look really good though. I just may have to try that one...

did the same thing with 5 bucks worth of gutter guard, 3 buck can of spray paint and #6 sheet metal screws from lowe's. painted the gutter guard black and cut the vertical black bars off the factory grill and screwed the gutter from behind with #6 sheet metal screws and washers. looks great. wish i had a digi cam, i'd post some pics.
