Message: I repainted a dash from black to a brownish color for a car a year ago. I needed to replace the dash but all I could find was a black colored one in the salvage yard. I bought vinyl spray paint in a can at O'reilly auto store. It was about $5-$6 and one can just barely did the dash. I don't know if they carry red or not but I'm sure they do somewhere. Just look for vinyl paint in a spray can. This stuff works well because it actually dyes vinyl and plastics and does not produce a thick layer as normal enamel sprays will. If there is a texture to the stock surface that texture will remain after painting. It will also not crack or fade. I was extremely happy with the dash when I was done as it looked like it came from the factory that color and the pad underneath remained flexible. Just make sure to spray this outside as it has stronger fumes that enamels.
Hope this helps.
