in my opinion, dont put the decal stripes on your truck. if you want them to last, can afford it, and arent worried about someone not wanting them if you sell it, get them painted on. I had decals, and after 4 years or so, they started cracking and looked horrible. I also wash and wax my truck religiously, so it wasnt that i didnt take care of them. i now have painted stripes that are 4" apart. i wouldnt go less than that. 2" wont clear the center piece in the grill (which is about 2.75"), and it will look weird by the hood ornament and on the rest of the truck. again, this is just my opinion. if you want to see some pics, let me know, and i'd be glad to send them.
