Subject: 275/60/17 and R/T Wheels on a Gen II

Hey

Will the stock R/t wheels mounted on 275/60/17 tires work fine on my 1993 2WD Dakota? I know about the dust cap issue and having to grind it a little for the center caps, but I'm more worried about the tires here. I would go with 255/50/17 but my friend is selling this set up, brand new and I want it. So let me know if it will work please.

Thanks!

well it just so happens a freind of mine has a set of r/t rims that I just got done testing on the front end. not good the inside of the rim is so far in that it was rubbing on the upper control arm. this only happened when turning to the limit, however it might be possible to use a 1/4 inch spacer between the hub and wheel if you use longer studs.....

I know ive seen these tires and wheels on this year truck. my problem is worsened by the fact that i have full fiberglass wheel lips and I think they might rub if I go to 60 series tires..

hopefully someone else will chime in and tell us how to fix this...

I just keep hearing of people grinding the upper control arm down with the 17's.

I'm not sure what the backspacing is on the RT rims. The 5.5" spacing on the GenIII 16's were 1/4" or so from the upper control arm on my 1992. The width was what kept me away from the RT rims since I am lowered 2/3. The guy with the red dropped 92 seemed to make it work, though.

1/4" spacers are need on any of them. I really don't think the 3/16" on Ebay will work.
