Subject: Exterior Paint IP: Logged
Message: I have a number of nicks and scratches in my paint that don't really bother me, but now I have a large scrap down the passenger side of my truck from a bush hitting it. I was thinking about getting touch-up paint from Advanced Auto or direct from Chrysler. Have any of you ever used that stuff? Does it look good at all? I don't wanna do it if it's going to look like sh*t. Any suggestions?

Message: if you paint, then put in some time with ultra-fine grit sandpaper its not too bad, by ultra-fine i mean a trip to the car-parts store not home depot though. ~R

Message: Before you do, drop by a body shop and ask how much to have it airbrushed & buffed. If you fix it yourself, you'll always see that line. And what's worse, instead of saying "oh, there's a scratch in the paint", you end up saying "oh, there was a scratch in the paint and the owner used cheap touch-up paint to try to cover it up".
(... speaking from experience....)

Message: I agree with eric unless you are experianced with tuching up paint the scratch will still stand out it would be worth the extra buck to get it done right

Message: Do sumthing with it, put a vinyl stripe over it or paint a flame over it, idk, think about it. But i agree, dont do it yourself, thats about as ghetto as a honda civic with a different color hood.
