Subject: too late to remove? IP: Logged
Message: So I want to remove my decals on my '99 Dakota. Problem is, I assume there will be mismatching colors when I take them off. I've read that you can just polish this out.. Does this still hold true for sticker that have been on for 5 years? Anyone had any experiences with this time frame? thanks!

Message: UV rays do fade the paint. The paint color and where you live/drive/park have a lot to do with it. So you may have a shadow left behind when you remove the stickers. Polishing the area will make it slightly less noticable, but it will still be there. The only way to get rid of it is to repaint.

Message: Ironically you can use Meguires Fine Scratch remover compound and It will "blend" the untouched decal paint with the exposed paint. HOWEVER, you can use Turtle wax colored Wax (if matching) and it will darken your existing paint to an almost perfect match. I used a combo of both and over time and car washes it blended nicely.

Message: Buff and polish it really well and it should be pretty much invisible. Was going to do the same thing to my black r/t but I just got it completley repainted pearl black (for free, hehe). So now I don't have to worry about it:)

Message: I just used a hair dryer set on high and waited a few minutes to heat up the area. Peeled right off smooth. TAKE YOUR TIME WHEN PULLING them off. If you get any resistance use the hair dryer some more.

Message: The best thing i've found for removing sticker
glue is GooGone. You can usually find it at walmart or a good drug store. It worked well for taking the decals off my 2000 R/T, which i recently did and the color difference went away after about 3 weeks and 4 washes.
