Subject: Wheel Question IP: Logged
Message: Someone please put an end to my neverending problem of backspacing and offset. I've got a '97 CC that is laying frame at the moment and a set of 20" Limited's that stick out and I'm getting rid of for $1200 with tires. What is the correct amount of backspacing or offset that I need to make these things to tuck. I'm looking to go back to an 18. So whoever has a good explanation, please school me.

Message: back spacing is the distance from the back of the wheek lip to the backside of the hub. flip the rim upside down lay a straight edege across rim measure the distance from hub to bottom of straight edge is back spacing. offset is from the hub to where ever inside the barrel of the rim. for instance rice burners and front wheel drive are + offset (hub further out). rear wheel drive are usually - offset (hub further in)
