Subject: stuff behind rims? IP: Logged
Message: i was looking through the auto rv magezine the other day and i saw this red dak in there with aftermarket rims and behind the rims it was all red (the same color of his truck) i thought it looked pretty sweet and i'am tring to find out what is behind his rims.
is it a plastic peice that you paint and then put on before you put the tire on or what?

Message: what is behind the rim is a dust shield(a piece of sheet metal that is cut to rim diamater and lug pattern) I dont know where to get these at. but if you find some i would paint them with a high heat paint because the will be come part of your braking\wheel system. Other wise your paint will just flake and bubble.

Message: Im sure you could make some, just cut the diameter of the inside wheel and drill the lug holes.
I bought mine used on ebay..normally sell for like $50-60/pair i think. They are made by Kleen-wheels or similar name.
They are called brake dust shields to keep the harmful brake dust off those expensive rims..even if they are factory. they work great and even have little cuts in them to allow air in to cool the brake rotors when driving.

Message: they sell them at any autozone or o'reiley's for about 56 bucks. they work really good, my friend has a pair for his 18's i just dont like looking under the truck and not being able to see through the wheel. i dunno for some reason i like that.

Message: you can find them on stylinconcepts or most aftermarket websites for our bolt atern up to 20inches.
