Subject: Help LIGHTS!!! IP: Logged
Message: Hello Everyone I am new here.
I have a 2000 Dakota ClubCab and I have a problem maybe someone can help me with.
I bought the truck last week and I am sending it to Sweden.
In Sweden it is law that the rear turnsignal is Amber, so I thought I'll be smart about this and bought Clear Eurotail lights, thinking I can put an amber light bulb where normally the back-up light goes. Well I did locate and cut the upper turnsignal cable, I cut the backup light cabla and spliced the turnsignal cable into the lower socket and put a amber bulb there. So far so good, now my problem appeared now I have no brake light in the upper socket and both turnsignal and brake light in the lower socket. I seems to me that both turn signal and brake light is the same cable? Is there a way to separate this so I can have only turnsignal in the lower socket and brake and tail light in the upper socket? I am desperate for help, somebody please !!!

Message: Yes, both brake and turn signal come from the same wire. Ford does them the same way. Go down to almost any parts store and buy a trailer lamp adapter. It has instructions on how to do it. But basicly you're going to disconnect the wires from your truck, and then wire them up through the magic box as if they were trailer lights.
My other question is, do they sell these trucks in your dad's part of the galaxy? If so, do they have a Dodge dealer anywhere nearby? When he gets the truck just go down to the dealership and get the correct lamps and wiring harness.

Message: Thanx boB the truck got a hitch and the wires are bunched up in several connectors, do you think I already have the "magic box"? Dodge doesn't have any representation in Sweden , only dealers they have are Chrysler and they won't touch anything Dodge at all. Most people in Sweden just loves the Dodges but have a really hard time with the imports as there are so many things that needs to be changed. I tried to get my local Dodge dealer in Seattle to talk to corporate HQ and look if Dodge makes cars that are sold to countrys where turnsignals must be amber, but no luck they were just not interested in helping out. I start to feel a little bad as I was the one who pushed for the Dodge and now we ran into all this stuff with the lights, I should have done my home work in advance.
thanx again
Tony

Message: No, the box is not there, it's strictly an aftermarket part. It's usually designed to be a plug in part. But since you already have the trailer wiring, consider just disconnecting the tail light wires and hooking them up through the 7 pn trailer connecter.
