Subject: shaved handles- locations IP: Logged
Message: Anyone who has shaved their handles- where is the best spot for the solenoids and poppers. Looks to me like the poppers should be inside the door 3 inches above the latch, just below the plastic inserts. The only place I can see the solenoids living is inside the back edge in the bottom corner pulling down. I don't see a problem yet with the window frames or thru-bolts heads of the solenoids mounts scratching the pillar when the door closes. But anyone with advice who has run into problems please let me know. I'm using SPAL Amenity 35lb solenoids, emergency remote button (which I haven't figured out where to put yet) and a positve post from the battery run the the wheel well I guess. I don't have power locks so I guess I'll just remove the locking bar, but I don't know what to do with the latch itself.
Thanks in advance.

Message: ok...well, it's hard to explain in words, buti put mine in differently. I put em horizontally inside the door skin, in front of the window track (about where the inside handle is but lower and alittle more forward). its attached to the rod for the inside handle and pulls forward (forward=front of truck). when i open the doors with the solenoid, the inside handle opens(like a ghost pulled it:); this way may be alittle weird, but with the inside handles, it still opens if the door's locked. hope u can see what i'm talkin about. I'm sure your way would work fine, just be careful cuz if u use the rod for the outside handle, it wont open if its locked. (i think u figured that out already).
if i understand your plan though, the only thing is that it might be nicer if u mount the solenoid to the inside of the door skin, so the bolts will be hidden behind the door panel.
and, i have that SPAL kit, it works fine; just make sure u get good connections for the ground wires that wont come loose, cuz mine mess up every once in a while. hope this helps. good luck...peace

Message: Thanks Dan,
and for WOW who can't put down his name, thanks for the meaningless comment.
I've searched thru the archives and this layout is all I've come up with. Anyone else done this and found problems? or better solutions?
