Message: how hard is it...you take the u-bolts off, put in some blocks, and put longer u-bolts on.

Message: Basically that's what you have to do. Just take the original U-bolts off and buy longer ones, put the blocks in and tighten the new u-bolts. Make sure you put a jack stand under the leaf springs so you can release some of that tension if you need to. It can really be a pain if the original bolts are very tight or rusted a little. You will definitley wish you had air tools, or maybe you do. I had mine lowered with U-bolts and blocks for about a year and I recently put it back to stock height because the ride was getting to be very annoying. To much bouncing and stiffness. It's not worth it in my opinion, but hey it's your truck.

Message: I love both of my lowered dakotas both are 98's one is lowered 4" in the back with blocks, and the other 7" with Springs, shackles, and blocks, the blocks are rough riding, but the trucks look damn good, and handle way better than stock too. Is it worth it????? I think so, you might not.

Message: Well compared to my stock R/T suspension, it's nowhere near as comfortable as a ride. Maybe that's the difference, you don't have an R/T and the suspension is different from a normal dakota. My truck looked great, but it was way to stiff in the back. I even put toxic shocks on the truck and it still didn't ride that great. The front rode a lot better than the back though, I will admit that.

Message: i did my own drop 2 inches in front and back and the back is very easy to do, just make sure you have that floor jack so the leafs don't break your arm when you loosen the original u bolts, also you may need angled shims (3 degrees i think) on your blocks (they also sell blocks that are angled) to keep your drive shaft angle straight
