Subject: Neon lights in the bed complete!
IP: Logged

Message:
Last night I finished installing neon lights in the bed of my 99 RC 2WD. I had a Speedliner spray on bedliner done, and I put on an Extang RT cover. I decided i wanted a light back there to see in at night for skiing, etc. Then i decided neons would be 10 times cooler. So i found a 2 tube kit for approx. $70 and got it. It came with 2 3' tubes. I mounted them under the bed rails so you cant even see them, ran both wires out the front of the bed and through the frame rail up to the battery. The switch is mounted next to the parking brake release.

Overall I am pretty impressed with my little idea, and it lights up the bed wonderfully under my new tonneau cover.

Just wanted to throw the idea out...i dont know if anyone has ever done it...

The kit came with plastic mounting brackets (kind of cheap but they work). I screwed into the rail where it bends down on the inside, and the brackets curve up under the rail and house the neons perfectly against the top of the inside of the rail. The Extang RT cover has its mounting rail run down close to there, and it hides the mounting brackets for me...unless you are below eye level with the bed rail.

I purchased the neon kit from: http://www.thetwistergroup.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=UL2101+P07836

its product # ul2101 if it doesnt link you directly.

I dont know how much sense my explanation makes to you, but if you have any other questions drop me an email or post back. Also, this was enough to light up the bed pretty well, if you want a really really bright glow shining out the back, etc...i would try to find neons longer than 3 feet.
