 Subject: Underbody Lights and Insert Grills

I was wondering if anyone has underbody lights on their dakota. I have a white 2001 Club Cab Dakota. I was wonder if anyone had any pictures to show me so i know if it will look good or not. I do not know of any good brands or anything so any information on the lights would be awesome. I am also thinking about getting some sort of insert billet grill. Anyone with any ideas or comments please tell me. I would appreciate any information.

Hey Hey Hey........ people I think the underbody lights are tight, but i do understand why people think they are stupid. Makes it look like the car is floating. I did see "fast and the furious" but i didn't copy the idea from them, my friends and cousins have them. What else should i do to my truck to make it look stylin'. I need some ideas please.

well you can lower it, get some rims, shave it up, system, billet grills, paint the door handles and everything that is black to match your truck (if you dont decide to shave it), get a billet antana, exhaust or anything else to make it go faster, and the list goes on and on...
as for the lights, my friend had a civic with them under it (6 years ago) i thought they were tight back then. but now im just not into the black lights and all the glowing stuff on the car. that is just me.
if you do decide to get them you should lower the truck, if you havent done it already. that makes the light look better. IMHO it looks really ghetto, when you can actually see the light bars under the car.

I'm not a big fan of the underbody neon, but I can point you to a couple of locations for grille overlays/replacements.
I've got pictures and links for aluminum billet grille overlays that I purchased for my truck displayed on my website. I'm also researching a few other companies such as the SS grilles as well as the do-it-yourself variety. I'm building a website dedicated towards researching and archiving data such as what you're inquiring about. If any other owners have purchased different grilles and would be willing to share their info, contact me please.

Guys, I gotta agree, the underbody lights really do look "ghetto",plus, it sooooo 1990's. I love the speed grills, but not near any chrome, if you have a chrome grill shell like mine, don't use any shiney alum. or billet. My lower valance is gray (black truck with chrome bumper and grill shell) and the inserts look good, but I only have them on the valance. Remember, "less is more"

Hey Matt, I have the same problem. I have an '89 Sport and can't seem to find grille inserts anywhere. Noone seems to make them. If you have any luck finding them, let me know!

I liked the fast and the furious, it was funny. You ever notice that when the guy tries to top out his eclipse in the beginning he shifts 7 times. There's that and like 100's of other things wrong with that movie. I love how they over exerate the NOS, lol. A friend of mine has had a import racer for a little over a year now, it was fast, not too flashy but after the fast and the furious came out he hated all the attention he was getting. People who didn't know what they were talking about were talking to him about stuff, he'd hate when someone would say, "Hey, you did you car just like on the fast and the furious". He didn't have neon on his civic(rip) If you're boerd check his page out http://www.shockincivic.20m.com . He just got a Eclipse GSX, car is bad ass. I'm not going to make fun of someone who likes neon just because I don't care for it. I've never seen a dak with neon. Feel free to send me some pics of them. Z28 are muscle cars but there is alot of ponya A.K.A. mustang trying to run throught these streets like if there fast mustang lick big balls they cant hang ini the 1/2 mile drag racing, or street racing.

kgjk..., what are you talking about? who was talking about a Z28? and who races a 1/2 mile race? this a dakota site, if you have a dakota a v8 mustang will serve you, and if your truck is hooked up, a breathed on mustang will show you its tail lights. if you have a chevy, go to chevytalk.com, and findout what new problem has popped up. every other post has something to do with a rod knock, break problem, trans fluid leak, ect...

sorry kgjkhgk but my friends mustang GT beats out SS's and my friends cobra doesnt even pull to the line anymore. mustangs and camaro's have been an on going battle.... i'd rather have the camaro over the stang,... but i know a few stangs that im sure could take your z by a few lengths :)

I have underbody kit on my 92 dak. Only thing I will complain about it that I ordered orange and got red with yellow paint over the tube, didn't work so instead of getting legal orange neons I got illegal red ones. I would recommend haveing them on either a lowered truck or if you like the lifted look, plan on multiple kits, I have a 2X but with some bigger tires on it and they're kinda dim sometimes but at night they're cool. Check magazines you can get a good kit for less than $175. And never say never, check Truckin.com and go to the bottom of the page and ener dakota, you'll get a couple of options inluding 4 piece kits and total grill replacements. that's the site for AIM ind.

Every kit is different. mine is wired in series while a friends is wired individually. Just watch out where you mount them I had a friend do it and he was looking for good flat places to mount the bulbs and saw a great spot for the rear and found out later it was the bottom of the tailgate. If you have a friend who'd knowledgable about electrical stuff it helps.

'02 4x4 Quadcab SLT+
Patriot Blue with Bright Silver two-tone
Chrome grill with silver front bumper
If anyone has a pic of their grill insert with a chrome grill please email it to me.
I'm starting to wish I had the Sport package rather than SLT so I'd have a blue grill.

I have a 99' Solar Yellow RC with Neo-Blue street glow underbody. It looks AWESOME at night. I may sometime get 2 more 30" tubes for under the bed to give it more light, but even now it still is awesome. Street Glow is the way to go, lifetime warrenty, Laxan tubing(doesnt break as easy) and they come in lots of colors.

Underbody lights are queer. Do you see any true hodrods out there with lights underneath? Maybe I am old fashioned but lower/raise it, put wheels on it, make it fast, make it loud, but don't put lights on the outside . . thats just wrong. Go to a classic hotrod show and you wont see any of those firebreathin cars with lights underneath.
P.S. ~ Us Police Love Those Lights But Not Cause They're Purty!!!

Hey telling ya but I was just at the Mopar Grand Nats and I saw every concievable kind of vehicle there with yes, you guessed it, underbody lights. HotRods, Muscle cars, Lowered Trucks lifted trucks and everything in between. They're not gay, there here to stay. If you don't like them your not "old-school" your just out of touch with reality. Also, driven by many a cop with my RED lights on, no problem.
