I heard APC has released the euro tail lights for the 97-01 dakotas about 3 weeks agao. has anyone seen them or heard if this is true? I cant find them anywhere, not even a pic. latter

check out Truck'n mag. A few different suppliers have the euro tail lights for the GenIII. I believe that one place in there has a pic of 'em. Godfather Customs sells 'em.

Released, my butt! They've been promising for a year. www.truckperformance.com has them on their site as well. They also have my money for them since Feb 1, 2001. I'll believe it when they're sitting on my doorstep! This is what I mean when vendors sell stuff that isn't even released yet...and the manufacturer has a lot of nerve too, allowing their vendors to do that. According to APC, mid March, 2001, we're still trying to get DOT approval. Please calm down. This is the part of aftermarket vendors that really irritates me.
Sorry, I'll quit ranting. I just get irritated everytime something like this is brought up.

ok, at least im not the only one who is getting the runaround. I looked at the godfather ad and it shows everything under the sun for chevys, but not a thing for the dakota's. The way things are going, if they do come out they will probably look like crap.

That's okay, by the time anyone has them in stock they will be out of fashion just like most other gimicks over the years.
The way to look at most things is put the picture or ad away and look at it in 6 months. Most of the time you'll laugh at the thought that you wanted that.
Personally, the "euro lights" do nothing for me and the trucks I have seen with them look like Wanna-be ricers.

dakota 2 time, i totaly agree with you. i think the stupidest thing is to see a car or truck that is stock with euro's. i dont like the apc's at all.

BEWARE IF YOU OWN A 2001 YOU WILL HAVE TO MODIFY TO FIT. THE LEFT TOP LAMP SOCKET HAS CHANGED TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM USING NON OEM PARTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO ROTATE THE PLUG PAST THE GUIDE PIN AND THEN SCRIBE WHERE TO DRIMMEL THE EXISTING NOTCHES. BE CAREFUL NOT TO REMOVE TOO MUCH OR THE BULB WON'T STAY PUT. BUT I DID GET MINE FROM STYLIN CONCEPTS BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE RELIABLE.

dudes,
i got mines from innovativemotorsports.com for $165..... got'em within 2 weeks. dude, even emailed me on when i was gonna get it. slapped it on the same day. and yes APC kinda screwed up on the left tailight socket where the reverse light go in. just gotta twist it more or if not modify it with a drill tool. real easy...... my truck is flame red and i got chrome tints with the black and chrome mudflaps. everything matches, i think. just my 2 cents.

My recommendations when it comes to the euro tails:
1. Decide ahead of time which type you want. The APC Euros for Dakotas do not come with the frosted lens appearance that most other tails have. Instead, the base euro is a clear lens with a fake chrome appearance around the lights. This looks good on a silver or graphite truck (or any other color where chrome looks good) but would appear horrible on other shades. If you have a black or dark-colored truck I'd recommend going with the carbon-fiber euros (same lights but with black carbon fiber background instead of chrome). PS - These lights don't look as ricey as they appear in pictures.
2. If you want the carbon fiber lights, go to procarparts.com or jcwhitney.com. Retail they'll run you somewhere around $169 plus shipping.
3. If you want the chrome lights, go to ebay. procarparts.com throws up a set at a rate of about one per day, and I snagged mine for a fraction of retail - I even received them within 48 hours of paypal confirmation.
Good luck on finding what complements your truck best.

Checked out the pics, the back of your Dak looks Great!!! I also had one of those Xenon spoilers on my '97 but had to take it off to put a tonneau cover on.I'm gonna email "scotty" and see if he wants to buy mine. or if anyone else wants to: $100 plus shipping.It's painted black.
