Just wondering if anyone has done this and how it's worked out. Don't wanna waste all the time and money if I'm just gonna regret it later on.

I have pretty much no problems with mine. every once in a while 1 of the doors wont work, but thankfully the other one always does; this is just cuz the solenoid's ground wire keeps loosening, losing contact. just make sure to get a GOOD company's solenoids (autoloc, SPAL) and hook it up right (or have someone else if you're not sure). Also, have an emergency plan... You can be DAMN sure you're gonna leave your keys inside, or get a dead battery sometime. Like me, the kit came with 2 remotes, so i ALWAYS keep the extra on my belt or pocket, so i can run in a store and leave the truck running. for a dead battery, u can run some leads from the battery to somewhere accessible, so u can jump it with the hood closed. OR, just carry a rock and a spare window with u :) sh*t, i was a delivery driver when i first shaved my doors! that's a pretty damn good test for daily driving! good luck; show us how it ends up...peace

I have problems with mine. Every time that the truck gets 15 mph the automatic door locks click and the doors open. there's the problem so just hook it up different. I love shaved doors even with problems.

I though when you shave the doors you always put a nother handle underneath the door somewhere. I don't have it done on my truck - I think it looks sweet though. Seems all the ones I've seen had hidden handles on the bottom of the truck somewhere,,,just incase.

terry, don't know if u know the problem or not, but sounds like your alarm that u hooked up the solenoids to automatically locks the doors at 15mph. so, the way it's hooked up, it's sending power to the solenoids too at 15mph. if u can figure out how to turn off that feature, or take it somewhere that can, there goes your problem. u dont need door locks with shaved doors anyway:)
OR, i'm guessing your alarm unlocks the doors when u turn it off to get in, right? if so, an alternative, though not a real great one is: your solenoids are hooked up to the wires that give power to the locks when they lock. you can hook em up the unlock wires instead; so, the doors would open when u unlock the doors and turn the alarm off. and not when u hit 15mph. again, that's only if your doors unlock when u turn off the alarm.
I'm just speculating on what your situation aounded like. If this isn't the case, sorry for this useless info. i'm just BORED :) and i like problem-solving with trucks.

Oh, and ZenDak: i think you're talking about the backup buttons that come with most kits. yea, they're good if u leave your keys inside or soemthing, but useless if you have a dead battery. plus, if you've seen em on all these trucks, they're not hiding em very well, cuz that's an easy way for ANYONE to get in. peace
