Subject: Question about clear fron corner lights IP: Logged
Message: I have found two different makers of clear from corner lights, Altezza and APC. The Altezzas are listed for $44 and the APC's are $70. I was wondering about the fit, quality, finish of the Altezza's vs. APC's. Has anyone looked at the two? Why such a big difference in price?
Thanks in advance.

Message: I've only seen clear corners from APC, I believe they're both the same lights. I have APC's on my Silver R/T and they look great!
If you can wait a few days for bidding to wrap up, I'd recommend checking e-bay for these corner lights - do a search for dodge dakota and you'll see plenty of sets. I picked up mine for less than $40, though www.procarparts.com sells them everyday for $44.95 plus s/h. You can also find Xenon bulbs and Euro taillights readily from e-bay for at least half of retail if you don't mind waiting for bids to finish (and can put up with those punks who wait until 2 minutes left to bid).
FYI for anyone who is planning to buy a set of these: None of them come with instructions. Make sure they contain amber-colored replacement bulbs (4 large 2 small total) plus the new light sockets for the outside bulbs (for some reason the socket for the outermost connectors is not keyed/sized the same as the stock lights... My APC's came with new sockets that I had to splice in, but they work fine).
To install the lights, look for the single Torx (T-15 I believe) screw that's located in the upside down T-shaped gap between the headlight, the turn signal, and the corner piece. Remove this screw, and gently slide the entire corner assembly towards the front of the truck. There is a pair of tabs inserted into weatherstriping near where the lens sits next to the grille - just slide the rubber off the tabs. After you have the lights slid out all of the way, just replace the lens and bulbs. Be careful to not touch the bulbs with your bare skin, as your natural oils left behind (fingerprints) cause the bulbs to have a shorter life. Use a t-shirt or towel or something similar to pop in the bulbs.
Splice your new outer connector in where the old one used to be (careful, there isn't much slack), and then slide the entire assembly back into place. Notice there are multiple tabs/slots to guide the assembly, and don't forget to put the weatherstriping back into place. I replaced both of my lenses (with Xenon bulbs in the corner sockets) in less than 10 minutes.

Message: The ones pro car parts sells are Altezza's. They list for $43.95 on their web site and they are selling many on EBay. It's good to know you are happy with the ones you got from Pro Car Parts on EBay. I have a bid in on some right now, although I expect to be out bid. Saw one pair go for $53. It's a little amusing when people don't do their homework and pay more than they need to.
Thanks.

Message: I'll be so happy when you guys all get your lights from e-bay. Then I can catch a pair for under $40.00 also. I hate those last second guys!all excited then....nuts! Guess that's why they call it an auction.

Message: It took me over three weeks of keeping a close eye on e-bay to get the prices I wanted... Having a bid all to yourself for 3 days just to watch it get overbid by some punk with 5 minutes left is disheartening at best, but with persistence I got amazing deals so in the end it all worked out... I guess even the biggest idiots forget to login once in awhile.

Message: I know exactly what you mean. I finally grew impatient and just bought them direct from procarparts.com. Got them yesterday and put them on today. Installation couldn't be simpler (other than having to splice in that outside bulb...took a precious 3 minutes extra out of my day). Just make sure when you get them that you have a torx key wrench (don't know the size, but I have a fold out set) and 4 16 gauge butt connectors to splice the outside bulbs in.
I've got a white 4x4 Sport and hate the black bumper, especially with stainless grille inserts and clear signal lights. There's a guy on eBay (ebay id "ber97") that chrome finishes aftermarket bumpers for several lines of vehicles (including the dak) and he seems pretty reasonably priced (usually $130-140). Has anybody bought a bumper from him or know anything about the quality? Or does anybody know where else to buy a high quality chrome aftermarket bumper (not valance, just bumper) for a reasonable price?

Message: I got mine from www.sportruck.com in the Shop section shortly after they were first released. They are made by Car Wear. I love them. They came with amber bulbs, but I left my clear bulbs in. It's been 2 years and no tickets.

Message: I just got a pair of these in from procar parts - only came with the two small amber bulbs. Is there a part number for the large amber bulbs? Anything else I need to worry about?
Thanks in advance~

Message: The parking lights (smaller) are bulb #194, the turn signal bulbs (larger) are bulb #3157. You can pick these bulbs up at any Wal-Mart, Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. etc... They're common bulb sizes.
