Subject: Suicide & Shaved Doors IP: Logged
Message: I was considering suiciding and shaving my door handles to allow for remote opening. Has anyone done this? What are your experiences as far as installation, workability and price?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanx

Message: With shaved doors (suicide doors included) u pretty much NEED to open them by remote. (...but i did see a badass 4door suv w/ rear suicide doors w/ relocated handles) anyway, you use solenoids that pull on the latch that opens the doors (pretty much like power door locks). BUT, just to be specific, it just pops the doors unlatched, so u just pull it open all the way. As far as opening all the way by remote...dont know if its possible, but i've thought about it.
Price: a good kit (Autoloc) around $200 (less on ebay) + body work($100+/door) and paint($$?)
The install for the solenoids/remote isn't hard if u have any kind of experience, plus a little ingenuity to make it work well.
Suicide doors... last time i checked was about $1500 per door (not sure what's included). OR, if u can weld GOOD and got some balls, check out www.suicidedoors.com they got hinge kits and stuff for like $400?? +install instructions.
i can talk about body work ALLL day :) Hope this helps...Peace
