 Subject: Bed Swaps

I have a 1999 Dakota Ext. Cab. I was thinking about replacing the 6ft bed that came with the truck with the 5.3ft bed that came on the Quad Cab model. How much work would this require and do you think that it will look good?

Sounds like a lot to me considering your wheels won't line up with the wheel opening... You'd have to move your springs, axle, and sway bar. Shorten the frame rails a little and a shorter drive shaft.

Its a lot of work, but couldn't I just shorten the frame in front of the axle, like somewhere under the cab so all I would have to do is get a new, shorter drive shaft? And its not just the work, but whether or not the truck would look good with the shorter bed.
