Subject: tire air valve covers IP: Logged
Message: I need a lil help here, I put on some aftermarket tire air valve covers to spruce up the wheels a lil bit, but now that i need to add some more air into the tires, they seem to be rather stuck, ive tried pliers and what not to get them off but to no avail. Im pretty stuck on what to do now, if someone could give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Message: my GF had the same prob with her cougar. They were cheapies from pep-boys. They didnt come off with out busting the seal inside the tire. Lickily she was putting new wheels on before the old ones needed air.
I tried penetrating oil and a torch--nothing worked to loosen them up. When i finally got ONE off with pliers it looked like the aluminum had oxidized and seized to the brass stem because they were both dry.
never did get them off
my advice--new stems and covers and lube the covers before you put them on.
