Message: I have a 99 slt clb cab and was wondering I made my own speed grille and have a little problem with opening my hood as the latch to open is behind the grille does any one have a solution I think that the 97 daks have the latch on the bottom of the grille if thats the case I'll have to order on but I'm not sure if they have it or not.

Message: Here is a link to a great latch release I found. I made one for mine, and it works well. One handed operation too! Just lift up the lever at the bottom of the grille and pull the hood up at the same time with one hand.

Message: I just made a home made grill, and when I first closed it I found the same problem. The first time I opened it with a screwdriver. Then We thought of putting a thin wire around the latch and running it out the side of the grill. To open it up, all you have to do is pull and lift and it works really good.

Message: I just stick the file part of my leatherman tool thru a hole and push the handle/release thing over.
I installed the street scenes grilles and the latch release thingy has never worked for me.
