 Subject: Window Tint Question

I live in Ohio and I just got my front driver and passenger windows tinted 20 percent on my 1999 Dakota regular cab. Now I know the law in Ohio here is like 50 percent legal limit, but the sun glaring in is so irritating, so I decided to go with the 20%. I'm just kinda worried about cops pulling me over and giving me a ticket. If anybody can give me their opinion, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Opinion on what? You know you're not legal with 20% but decided to do it anyway. Suck it up if you get pulled over, or don't break the law. God you're stupid!

I doubt that you'll ever get pulled over. I see people ALL THE TIME with tints way over the legal limit here in AZ. And i know that they don't all get pulled over all the time. So i'm sure you're fine.

hey, i live in ohio too and i dont think many people are gettin pulled over for it anymore. the cops were on a kick for a while but around here (cincinnati area) i havent heard of many people gettin tickets lately. and i dont think ur stupid, mine are illegal too.

Hey mshro, I live about an hour north of Columbus. How dark are your windows tinted in your Dakota? How long have you had them tinted? And you've never gotten pulled over for it? Yeah and its not like I wanna piss off cops, I just like having the tinted windows that's all. If I'm minding my own business and not speeding, it would have to be one extremely bored cop to wanna pull me over for that. I know I'm taking a risk with my illegal tint, but I see a ton of vehicles all the time here in Ohio with dark windows and they must not get pulled over cause they still got it on. If anybody else wants to give their opinion, go ahead.

Sounds like you don't need any opinions. You're convinced that you won't get pulled over. So just do it and quit whining.

I live in Wisconsin I had 8% in my old car the only ones that care here are the state patrol. And I did get nailed for it I only had to take off the two door windows. Lucky for me state relys on locals to enforce their written warnings so I just had a cop friend of mine right it off
it doesn't matter now bought my dak 4 months later. I just put electronic tint in my dak an have been pulled over 3 times by the time they put down the doughnuts and get to my door the tint is gone (yes it was expensive but worth it)

Hey guys. I live in Ohio (near Akron). I had 35% on my truck for about 2 months with no problems from the law. BUT!!! I was coming home from work at 4:00AM and I got pulled over for my tint. I was going the speed limit, not swerving, tailgating, nothing. I got a ticket (1st time ever pulled over), and he said state law requierd that I go to court about it (I couldn't just send payment it). I went to Summit county court of common pleas, and was fined $30 plus court costs. In all it cost me around $60, not to mention, that if I had been working a day job I would have lost time at work to go to court, so it would have cost more than that. I drive past that same cop every night, so I took my tint off. I knew it was illegal, so I took my fine and sucked it up, but I wasn't going for two. If you know you're illegal (%50), be willing to face the concequences. You may not have to, I see a lot of tint darker than mine was, but maybe they are all paying fines and hopeing they won't get stopped again.

Just got pulled over today...driving home from a flight lesson, going 65, rush hour traffic, cop is tailgating everyone, then me and the lights come on...It's not worth the $185 in fines I racked up between that and not having a front plate on. I'm not trying to piss any cop off or even break the law (even though that's what I'm doing), but tint and plate laws are BS. 35% is what I have.

I had tint on my old car (the car from hell) it was 15% on the front....and the only reason i know the front and not the back is cause I got pulled over for it. I bs'd my way out of the ticket, but the cop said that it would be a 170 dollar ticket in WI. I got ridda that car and went back to the trucks :). I'm thinkin that I am going to tint the windows on my topper to about 5% and they already are tinted, so hopefully theres no laws against that? Anyways, i am someone who can vouch for the fact that tint is illegal if the law says it...haha. Just thought that might help someone if they were thinkin about tinting.

I have seen Electronic tint on tv before, it was on one of those tech shows. So it is real, but I don't think that it is actually available to the public. It was like an LCD screen sorta deal if I can remember right. You press a button and it fills up with the black liquid. I could be completely remembering it wrong though. And hey if you wanna sell me a kit for 100.00 i'll take it...lol.

there has to be electronic tint...your mirror fades at night to reduce glare...so I'm wondering if I came across this special glass somewhere (yeah right) it would probably cost a couple hundred bucks...but anyways that's not the point....you could hook up a variable resistor to it and you could vary the window tint....now would the be sweet or what!?!?! anyways...enough day dreaming...back to work I go
