 Subject: Airbag dash cover

This may be a dumb question but, here goes;
Since I've painted my glove box on my 2000 R/T, I was thinking about painting the 'airbag cover' part of the dash to finish off the look. I believe that I've seen it before, but not 100% certain. Has anyone taken theirs off, and if so, how would I go about doing it and doing it SAFELY on my 2000 R/T? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

just masked off and covered my whole interior and painted and it turned out perfect

If you plan on having passengers, I would turn off the airbag, because if it goes off, BAM paint chips and shards flying everywhere. I painted my dash and just removed the airbag completely, installing a screen in the next few weeks.
