Message: depends on what model and gen. older daks with alot of chrome can be done in and out (color change) w/ 4qts 3 if staying the same color. Gen 3 sport same color prob 4qts. SLT prob streach 3qts or 5 if color change. if you change color you should remove bed to get front of bed and back of cab. Course that depand in 1 stage or 2 stage paint as well good luck. drew

Message: it really depends on alot of factors.what kind of paint, what color, how many coats you want.things like that.if you use a lite color say yellow, over a darker color,it usually takes more coats.dark colors, such as black or a dark green, 2 will do the trick.you might be able to shoot a primer sealer over the original color and you want have to put on to many coats.darker colors tend to show every little flaw though.as far as price, reds are more than black because the pigment is hard to come by. maybe this was a lot more info than you wanted, the original math to this question is buy a gallon and be safe, better to much than not enough.it tends to really piss you off to run out in mid stride.
