Subject: bed liners

I have a 97 dak that had an over the rail bedliner when i bought it. Since then I took it out so I could put a cover on the bed. I want to put in another bed liner and was leaning toward a spray on or roll on. I'm just looking for any advice/experience because some guy tried to sell me a kit for $100 on a Herculiner that didn't really look too promising. Also any advice on touch up paint to cover the scratches left by the old liner rubbing on the rail. Thanks a lot

i have a 2000 quad cab dakota, and i had a rino liner put in it.best thing i ever did. i also had them spray the liner in so it overlapped the edges of the box about 1",so a cover won't tear up the paint.

Go Line-X or Rhino. I love my Line-X, but I've got nothing against Rhino.

Turboliner is kinda weak and plastic-like, roll-ons suck period.

IMHO 2 coats of Roll-on and you saved a ton of bucks. Same type of product as Rhino etc.. just not sprayed on. I have had the roll-on type for quite some time, from Wal-Mart, for about 60 bucks. I have since hauled cinder blocks, paver stones, lumber, drywall, drywall jack, scaffolding etc, and it is holding up very well. Prep is the key to ANY type of sprayed or roll-on liner. THe reason why Rhino and the like are thick at first is the amount of spray going through the gun. You are paying for overspray, and the loss incurred by the installer. Roll it an forgetta bout it..
