I have a 2001 3.9L, any suggestions on how to dress up my engine compartment (photos would be appriecated)? I am a university student so money can be tight sometimes.

Check out my site. I have detailed quite a bit of my engine through a variety of methods. If you go to my aftermarket parts number page you'll find some of what I used (need to update the page). Send me an email if you have any questions.

some braided stainless steel hose kits add a real nice touch. I put them on all of my cooling hoses when i changed my cooling fluid. I also painted the valve cover vent. You can get the stainless kits for about 80 or stainless look alike for 30 at autozone. I got the look alike but have only had it on for a little while and have not gone through any salt NH winters yet, so i'm not sure how it will hold up. I worried that it might corrode. So the stainless if you can aford it might be worth it.

Jacob,

I used a Dremel with a bunch of wire wheels. If you decide to go this route, you'll need about two dozen wire wheels as they don't hold up too well. When I finished with the wire wheels I used some Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish to even the shine out and to help protect the aluminum from fading.

It took me a weekend to polish everything, but I also removed basically the whole front of my engine. It was a lot easier to polish everything in a comfortable position rather than leaning over into the compartment.

I was thinking about doing this at some point to make our otherwise pretty boring looking engine compartment, look more unique.
