Hey guys Im planning to get my dash benzel painted and was even thinking of getting the passenger side airbag dash cover painted while i did the benzel. I know a dude who says he can order or get the AMBer FiRe pearl coat paint mixed to match my trucks exterior for my interior so thats solved. but can i pull the airbag cover off?? dont want it to explode in my face screwing with it or anything. Any intstructions may help cause im gonna pull the parts off and take them to the guy so i dont have to pay him to do it.

Don't quote me but I think it is like the steering wheel bag. I think it comes as a unit including the cover, you may have to paint it still in the truck.

I've taken apart my dashboard completely and Walter is correct. The plastic cover to your passenger side airbag is the blast cover to the airbag itself. It's all one unit and any tampering might cause more problems than its worth. There is no danger of it exploding, unless a short in the connector is made with a electrical contact, but there is certainly the possibility of damaging the unit itself. Also bear in mind that painting the fascia might cause problems if the airbag is ever deployed. I'm thinking that having enamel paint on a handgrenade might cause some harm to the passenger.

check out my amber fire RT, with the bezel painted...
i recovered my overhead console in fabric after making a few modifications to it.
word of advice, leave your gas cap with the painter to color check it when he's done. took my paint shop two tries to get it just right. there's a lot of pearl in there and its hard to match in the light.
