Subject: power window kits? IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if anyone has put in power windows in their dakota? I have an 02 RC with manual windows and locks, and I was just wondering how difficult it is to put in a power window kit. Thanks

Message: hay cole I put power windows and door locks on my 02 cc this past weekend went real well, you have a choice of either universal (what i used) or spend abount 100.00 more for direct bolt in replacement winder mech. with motors (like factory). the direct replacement would probly take about 2hrs they are about 250. a set i paid 230. for universal and pwr door locks with keyless entry. so to be so long winded good luck

Message: thanks for the info. So for "factory" power windows it would be 250 for two windows? What happens to the window crank when you put power windows in?

Message: i always thought it would be cool to wire the cranks into a switch to power the windows... push the crank down and the window goes down, pull it up and the window goes up.. i cant imagine itd be too complicated, just some micro switches.. until your unknowing buddy tries to crank it and busts the handle off....
most people put plugs in

Message: That would be kinda cool, but yea someone would definately wrench on that thing to hard and snap it....so a big fat no for that one..haha. I was thinking of putting in a set of component speakers if i put in the power windows...and have the tweeter mounted over top of the crank hole? Has anyone done that before?

Message: if you put in the fact. window kit the crank goes away with the winder mechanism(its part of it) and you get a plug for the hole if you use the universal kit motor drive goes on the crank check out a1electric.com that is where i got my kits from. drew
