Subject: Instead of Grill Inserts IP: Logged
Message: I saw this picture on this site with the black plastic stock grill painted yellow and it looked good on that blue truck. But do you guys think it would look alright if I painted mine white and I have a white truck. I can't decide if it would look good or not. so just give your opinion. Heres the truck i'm talkin about http://www.dodgedakota.net/albums/viewer/219.htm
Thanks

Message: I think it would look good. I painted my grill red to match the rest of the truck and it looks great. The only downside is that it's a real pain to prep the stock grill inserts so the new paint will stick. The easiest way I found to do it was to remove the entire grill assembly from the hood and prep it that way. You'll probably find it easier to repaint the whole thing at once too, that way you don't have to try and mask around the inserts, just run some tape along the entire back side of the grill assy. and shoot the whole thing at one time.

Message: Did you use primer and everything or did you just use the paint over the plastic? and does the paint stick well?

Message: I used Krylon Fusion to paint my door and t-gate handles black . I'm sure they have white also. easy match on a black or white truck. I painted the grill and headlight bezels on my 96 F-150 with rustoleum and it started to peel shortly after, what didn't peel was almost impossible to get off.
I would go with the Krylon---read and follow the directions

Message: Just save your lunch money and buy a nice insert. White on white is too much white, go with a brushed alum or chrome. It is worth the $200.
