Subject: Problems with Lund's Bug Deflector
IP: Logged

Message:
I've got Lund's 3 piece Exterminator bug deflector

Works well, my windshield no longer looks like fly paper and it's stopped at least one rock from hitting my hood/windshield at the expense of some deep scratches/slight crack on the shield.

Was doing some clean-up today and noticed that the rubber piece around the edge of both headlights is starting to rip...these are the rubber pieces you have to pop out to screw in the 'eyebrows', then pop back in.

Anyone else have this problem?

The deflector is about 2 1/2 months old.

Thanks in advance...

I've got the LUND Intercepter on mine. Did you have four small round clear rubber nubs for uhder the eye brows (two for each side)? I did on mine and it keeps the eye brows from flexing too much.
I've had mine on about two months also and no problems.

Yeah... those "rubber nubs" keep the eyebrows from flexing...

Did you install yours, or if you did, did you install them "too high" so that the eyebrow shield doesn't make good contact with them?

If you did install them, it probably would be HELL trying to move them now...

Good luck dude...

I had to relocate my "nubs" because I didn't get
them in the right place they came off pretty easy
I cleaned up the glue spots on the fender and then reinstalled them using automotive double stick tape (trimmed to fit the bottom of "nub".
Stays on just as good.

'Nubs'...you know, I recall seeing some clear plastic 'gumdrop' shape pieces...the instructions said it optional on using them and I believe I did not...something to check.

Double sided tape was indeed used

Now re: the 'nubs', would those increase the height of the eyebrows off of the body, promoting more tension from the center shield on hitting the eyebrows?

Regardless, gonna re-check...thanks!

Well actually... I thought the "nubs" braced the eyebrows from the wind force as you drive... They would give the eyebrow some support against the wind and would take stress off of the "screw point".

Plus... my center shield doesn't even touch my eyebrows... they are close, but they don't actually touch.
