Subject: Primer question IP: Logged
Message: Hey all,
Doing some body work....on my '93 dak. Its green (CC 9093 I believe). After doing sanding , what kind of primer should i use to get the green to come out right? Also, this paint (auto in a can) can says that the color wont be correct until a clear coat has been applied....how long should i let the green set before i apply clear coat? A day or two?

Message: I personally prefer 3M off- white filler/primer. This primer, imo, helps the paint lay nice and flt, because the filler portion, takes out any minor inperfection on the panels. You will find that most reputable body shops use this type of primer. As far as applying clear, read what the "can" maker manufacturer suggests. Too many unknown variables exist to answer "when exactly" to apply clear, such as temp/ humidity, heated booth or not, you get the point.
