Message: Sorry soooo late to respond to this. A buddy of mine lowered his 4x4 Dodge for about nothing except time. He took the smallest leaf out and then torsioned the front down to match the rear. I think it drove better than stock. It would have looked awesome with 18s or 20s....... He sold it before he put wheels on it....

Message: It is time for a new truck, I've had my ranger since it was new in 93. I am very seriously considering a 4wd dakota because of the extra bed lenght.
I have no interest in offroading and want the 4wd for getting around in snow and mud. I us the truck "as a truck" and like to be able to reach into the bed from the side and not have to "crawl in".
It apprears that twisting the torsion bars is a reasonable way to get the front down a few inches with a few options for back.
My question is exactly what is the procedure to adjust the torsion bars, how much has to come off to get at em, how big a cheater does it take to twist em, how hard is it to get both sides the same if that is a problem at all?
Thanks for your input

Message: i have a 4x4 dak 2000 and reading previous posts on lowering, yes i want to lower it and if you dont like it its just too bad isnt it! lol jk
if adjusting the torsion bars (up to a 2" drop) will affect ride (which i have to say is very loose stock), will getting performance shocks 2" shorter compensate? possible a sway package too? which i am considering getting with or without a drop
any info would be great thanks

Message: michael, I don't think it's possible for a V6 to turn heads, they sound like a ricer, get a V8 and then you can come on this site and discuss the way your exhaust sounds

Message: Any help would be appreciated. I've been posting the below message on several 4x4 forums.
My front wheels have negative camber after I cranked the torsion bar down to give me about a 3" drop on my 4x4 Durango. Took the Dur. to a alignment shop and they told me that they couldn't fix it. I'm going to try one or two more shops. If they can't do it then I'm going to crank to torsiion bar back out and figure out a way to lower the 4x4 Durango in the front. Any ideas how to fix the negative camber and/or get something custom made to lower the front of the 4x4?
I'm also bottoming out in the rear (3" blocks installed) even though I cut the bump stops in half. I'm running Bistein shocks and am going to put zip ties around them to see if they are bottoming out. Would going with shorter shocks make me bottom out even more?
If I am bottoming out on the bump stops in the rear, is there something to soften it up that I could use?
I know that this is not exactly the forum to post this in but you guys have the most KNOWLEDGE!
By the way I'm have 23" KMC rims... with the tires they are about 32"s in diameter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to f up my Pirelli tires with that negative camber.
Thanks is advance,
