Subject: Stillen bumper install tips? IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone who has the stillen bumper cover have any tips on the install?
I do not plan on using the vertical bars on the lower half of the airdam. Also I have factory fog lights.
Should I pre-fit the cover, or just prep & shoot it?
All advice welcome!
Thanks,
Darryl

Message: I just installed mine this weekend. As far as i am concerned, you will need to cut out the bars on the airdam with a jigsaw.BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUT THE JIGSAW INTO THE RADIATOR LIKE I DID. EXPENSIVE MISTAKE...but yea...anyways...I sanded the entire bumper cover with 400 sandpaper, then git it right over the existing bumper/valance. I put 2 screws on each end of each wheelwell, put 3 screws on the underneath, and used 2way tape for holding the existing bumper to your new stillen. Once you have your holes drilled and know everything fits, take that bad boy into get painted..BE SURE TO....get it painted with flex spray or you will have chipping in your paint.

Message: Its pretty easy. 2 way tape on a few spots and one screw in each fender. It holds great and the cover fits like a glove.

Message: The body shop "Dennis and Don's" painted and installed by my bumper for $200. I pre-drilled 3 holes, prior to painting, in the wheelwells and used the existing screws and double sided tape on the top.

Message: I just put mine on but the tape they included was not very "sticky" so I bought the $22.00 3M tape from the local NAPA and it sticks great. I used those little "christmas tree" push in fasteners to hold the bumper cover to the bumper both on the side and below. I painted them so they blend right in. Also, if you are planning to use a lower grille now is the time to put it on. I screwed some small wood blocks directly to the old valance and then laid the grill mesh over the opening and secured it with screws. Looks great and the cost was minimal.
