Message: I just did this last night. There are 3 screws holding the entire housing to the fender. From the front of the truck, look behind the lens for the black plastic housing. Follow it to beside the radiator and that is the first screw. The other two have to be taken out from underneath the truck. Once you have taken out the screws, pull the whole assembly out the front. Passenger side is the same except it requires more force to pull out because of a knob holding it in. Be sure to put the knob back in before you tighten it back up.

Message: Man you don't need to take the headlights out to replace the bulbs. You can access the bulbs when you open your hood. All you have to do is twist the connector and the bulb slides out of the back of the headlight housing. It's very simple and takes about 10 minutes to replace the bulbs. Just be sure not to touch the glass part of the bulb.

Message: I know on my '01 4.7 Quad Cab you must take the headlights out. That is even the way the manual tells you to do it. It is a PITA I know. I have never went through that much trouble to change a headlamp!!!

Message: I just did mine to 2 nights ago. The first time I ever did this I took out the headlight assembly...what a pain in the a$$. Now i just twist my wrist behind the assembly and pull them out that way...still not the easiestbut dont have to take everything apart.
I put GE 9007 HO or NAPA Britelite and replaced the fogs with #885 50w

Message: I have an '01 CC and with the size of my forearms could not get to the headlamps. After spending a little time tinkering with the headlamps to put a set of the NAPA Bitelights in I discovered that if you remove the turn signal assembly (one small torex screw) you have easy access to the three bolts for the headlamps. With that, the installation is no more onerous than removing the trim around the headlamp of a Chevy, Ford or Dodge like we had to do years ago. I wish I could get at it from the back though......what we do for the superior style of the Dak. That hood is just too narrow in front!

Message: I have an 10 Quad and I just did mine and it took less than 10 min. It might be a bit** if you have really big hand though. I cant imagine having to take the housing out to change such a simple bulb.

Message: Acrophobia
I saw in a previous post that some were using the 885. I went to napa and asked and he said it really shouldn't be a problem as long as the wiring isn't old. The 885 are 50w compared to the 893 at 37.5w. Im all for more light and i thought id give it a try! 3 days later so far so good. The 885 also dont have that black coating on the tip of the bulb either which in guessing is for light glare purposes. Thay are brighter though!

Message: Hmmmm, I did NOT have to remove the headlight assembly on my new '01 Quad Cab with 4.7 to replace the headlight bulbs. Just reached in and twisted the connector and the bulb slide out of the back of the headlight housing. Only took 5 or so minutes.

Message: I just told the Dodge dealership that my bulbs were VERY dim at night and I asked them to change them while it was in for my 3K oil change. I gave them the britelights and they changed them. I don't know which way they did it though.

Message: I have a Dodge Dakota R/T can you replace the foglamp in the fog lights?
I also cannot get to my headlamps. Do to the fact that they are wedged back against something so I believe it is the fact that the V8 engine is bigger, less room. So I would have to take the whole headlight assemby out.

Message: I just installed xenon bulbs in my 01' Dakota club cab. However, I am wondering if bulb rotation in the socket should be addressed during install (filament postion). It seems that on brights the lights don't shine farther just brighter. Does anyone know if there is a right or wrong to how the light is snapped into place? Should I just recalibrate the whole light?

Message: On the 2000 with the 4.7L V8 there is NO way to replace passanger side headlamp without removing light housing. However, the easiest way to get it out is to remove the parking light housing first with the one torx screw. Once this is out it is very easy to remove the three 10mm bolts that hold the headlamp housing. It is possible to get to the bulb on the driver side by reaching in from the back IF you have small enough hands -- I was able to remove the bulb this way but ended up removing the entire housing to get the new one back in.
