Message: Rides fine enough for me... I only have 25K for mileage. Use the R6 around town :)
Next time, I'm gonna go with 255/35 for tires.
The roof was done at Streetbeatcustoms out of phoenix. They have a website with the same name, just .com Great guys to work with...

Message: ok fellas
lookin for more comments and ideas...
haven't taken first at a show yet .of course i did lose to a perfectly restored 1948 chevy truck in the "truck" category. then again, why the hell wasn't he in "antique?"
i hate when people sandbag their category to ensure a win.
hell i once lost with my mr2 in the "sport compact" division to a 99 35th anniver mustang gt... not really a sport compact car if you ask me.
but anyways *rant off*... i'm lookin for some ideas to help freshen up the ride and all

thanks!

Message: Very nice. You can tell you put alot of money and time into it. Defently a nice looking truck. when you redid the sunvisores, did you take care the surounding strip too?
Note about the streetbeat cloth sunroofs. Take care of it from sagging. Don't know why it does but I can't count how many times I seen them on bugs all sagged out in the center. I'm sure that its just from the shape of bugs compare to yours but thought I give the warning anyways

Message: about the roof... most of the questions i get stem from problems have heard about or seen with the manual units... the powered unit that i have has a cross braced design in each folding section. that roof is real stiff and once it locks down, its pretty darn rigid.
most people at the last car show had some homebuilt manual versions that just didn't look sturdy or durable. looks like they had been hacked in just in time for the show if you ask me...
about the visors, i recovered the whole visor panel... what do you mean about the "strips?" the only thing left of the orginal color are the clips and clothes hanger tabs in the back...
hey so when is the next meet in the DFW area??

Message: That might be true about the manual and auto being different. All the ones I seen where the street beet manuals that where saggin. Most bug owners want the manual ones just to be a little athentic. If you say its that tuff lookin, I might start lookin at getting a cloth roof for the bug again. BTW I heard the locking keys are kindof cheesy. any comments on that?

Message: well if you mean by locking keys... the hooks that secure the manual roof to its trim ring, then yes they are cheesy.
go ahead and hook your right index finger. that's what the latch looks like, then it slides into a thin horizontal slot in the roof trim ring (the front of where you cut the hole). then you just move the lever and cause the hook to catch the inside lip of the slot.
the power one just slides all the way forward on its rails, then once its fully taut, the whole unit drops about a 1/4 inch into the trim ring.
as the undercover brother says, "solid!"
leather seat covers you ask??
check out elitecustoms.com and shoot an email off to Jonas. tell him the guy from hawaii/ oklahoma sent ya over :)
