Message: Hi, Im from florida, and looking for some where to get my truck repainted. possibly a different color, but most likely will keep it black. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the cheaper paint job companies IE Maaco or somewhere like that. should I save some $$ and take it to a cheaper place or goto some upscale expensive place? Keep in mine that im 17. I have the money to pay almost any price, but just understand that it would take me quite a while to make this money BACK. send all your opinions and reasons. thanks
Dan

Message: The way I see it about paint jobs is "You Get what you pay for." I don't have any experience with someplace like Maaco, but from what I heard they are pretty god, BUT you have to do all of the prep work to get the best finish from them. I was contemplating the same thing before I painted my truck until I met a former painter turned mechanic. The only thing I ended up paying for out of pocket were the materials, and a 55gal drum of elbow grease!

Message: I live in Mass. now but I lived in Naples for a while. I worked for Goodyear and a body shop that was near by brought the cars to us for alignment after they repaired the body. All the cars I saw looked really nice. Their name is Economy Auto Body. They are on Davis Blvd in Naples.

Message: I actually had a 92' Dak painted at Maaco a few years ago after a incident with a fence post, and forgetting my door was open before backing up. If I recall it was around $250 maybe $450. They actually did a really good job for the money. All they will do for that amount of money though is scuff it up, and shoot it. Any chips, dents, or deep scratches you should fix those yourself prior to taking it to them. I found two runs in the clear, and a little bit of dust embedded in the paint, but not hard to fix if you have the materials. All in all not a bad experience. If I hadn't learned the trade myself, and bought all the right equipment this year, I would take another one to them for a stock repaint any day.
Ultimately, it depends on the quality you want.
