Subject: Just what are Euro Lights for? IP: Logged
Message: Are those "Euro Light" brand taillights used for something other than showroom trucks? Like for everyday street driving in Europe?
I'm moving to England in the summer, and will take my Dakota with me. Was told US vehicles sometimes have to be modified (switching out taillights to European standards), and that I should get all parts before I leave so I can drive my truck as soon as its delivered there.
Can anybody help with these obscure questions? Maybe another military person who has been over there before?

Message: "Euro Lights" is just a moniker for lights that have a clear lens with some sort of aftermarket graphical effect inside, nothing more.
You will need to pass a European vehicle inspection - they are absolutely anal about annual inspections and compliance. Can't have a bunch of rust, you have to pass emissions, you can't have a defective vehicle, etc... If your truck isn't in tip-top shape, you should either consider not taking it over there or getting it squared away before you put it on the boat. The only modification I typically see is the addition of a bright red brake lens down near the bottom of the automobile - lots of places in Europe get very foggy and a lens near the ground is easier to spot since fog typically hangs a foot or higher off the ground.
