I was going to buy a Sir Michaels pan, but the site I was going to buy it from says it is not D.O.T. approved.
Anyone know of any other companies that make a steel one?

Probably no roll pan is DOT approved because won't withstand 5mph crash test as original bumper would.

huh. ya your probably right, just that they're the only ones to admitted it.
The dealer told me that Rams could get them as an option a couple years ago, but Mopar doesn't make them for Dakotas.

well, they're not supposed to be legal, but my friend's body shop guy used to always be in court fighting it (and winning), BECAUSE if u notice, the S10 SS comes with a roll pan (i dont even think its metal either!) So, it shouldnt be a problem. I've never had a problem with it, neither have any of my friends. Peace

I remember not too long ago that everyone buying compact trucks had to pay extra for a rear bumper. I know that Nissan was doing this for awhile, so I don't see what the problem with a
roll pan would be. A roll pan has to be slightly better than nothing?

when you go to any dealership to purchase a truck. You can request the truck with a rollpan right from the start.

Dodge makes a "steel valance panel" Part #4886370AA. I priced this from local Dodge dealer last year for my 02 RT, was $220. Plus will need two bumper brackets (left and right), believe they were 19.95 each. The part was listed for earlier model but the parts guy looked at the stock bumpers for 97 - 99 and 02 and said they were the same numbers so he thought it would fit. Told me if it didn't I could return it.
Wound up buying a Sir Michaels with flip up license plate and hidden hitch.
