Message: Go with the 8's and put them into some wedge boxes. You might lose a inch or two at max, but at least you wont be too cramped. If you have the premium system with the door tweeters, invest into a woofer/tweeter package and let your doors do the work. I have an extended cab with a 10 in a tube and I still have to take it out sometimes to make room. I can only imagine what kind of situation 2 10's would cause in a reg cab. Good lord!

Message: I have a 10" behind my passenger seat. I had to cut out the jack. I didn't lose anything but I had a professional installer put it in. He took out my back panel and made me a new one cause of the stupid raised parts. It all depends on the depth of the speakers though. What speakers did you get? The 10" will sound so much better than 8" subs? What amp?

Message: I cut out both trays and put two 6x9's in a box in each well and a amp on top of the driveline hump under the rear bench, that was not enough bass that stayed for about 8 months. I then made 2 boxes on either side and place the biggest cushion in the middle, which housed 2-10" subs that lasted about 2 months. I didn't like it for the fact that the system was visible. So this weekend I made my own version of the MTX thunderform, I cut the front of the under the seat tray from one cup holder to the other. Made a box to fit into that section, that holds 2-10" subs. I still have to modify the seat hangers so the seat can cover the box when I have to use the rear for passengers.

you can see my first try at my system with the 6X9's, the new system that I just finished will have the pictures up shortly.

Message: Hey Anthony...
Did you notice that this guy has a "Regular Cab" Dakota... therefore he doesn't have any "trays" in the backseat like the Club Cab has...
I don't think he will be using your example in his application...

Message: The idea about the back panel custom replacement sounds like an excellent choice. Saves space, looks better than a big fuzzy box or tube would. But sounds (pardon the pun) pricey? In a Regular Cab Pickup going with wedge shaped boxes with top mounted ports will allow for your seat to recline without restriction. Easy to wire because they usually are mounted on the floor. Simply place the amp under the drivers seat, and wire them up. Cheap, dirty, will thump your seats. Most people say bigger is better, not true. Purchasing a good amp, with perfect range, and a better signal to noise ratio. And putting that power into a nice professional pair of 8" subs will produce tight, crisp, clear bass that will make you proud. Sure 3 15"s with 1500watts can shake your car, but does it sound good? Go with quality, not quantity and seperate your professional system from the ghetto boom trash "systems" that pollute the street scene.

Message: Mr. Sleepy...
Hmmmmm... I could take offense to that "ghetto boom trash systems" comment since is so SO VERY STEREOTYPICAL of the "bass music scene" especially since not all "boomy" systems are "ghetto". However I won't since I know the difference between a "junky cheap low budget flea market Pyramid brand 900 watt wannabe system" and a "professionally installed quality car audio system".
Just to let you know... "ghetto" systems aren't the ONLY ones that "pollute the street scene". I think think it is just as bad when you find someone playing some metalhead/punk rock "drum bass" through some loud @ss 100 Hz+ loudspeakers (like those from EV) instead of subs that you can hear for 5 blocks away trying to give everyone a headache with all their "heavy metal thrashing and grinding".
So please don't use the stereotypes to reinforce the point. BTW, I know of several 1,500 watt systems that sound dayuum good.. however those folks spent ALOT of money (in the neigborhodd of $10K plus) getting those systems there... and guess what? Most of those people are NOT from the ghetto.

Message: DarkFury,
Well you'll have to excuse me not being more direct in my comments about "ghetto" systems. I wasn't saying that big speakers and big amp systems are ghetto. I was saying that if you have a limited budget, that spending your budget on higher priced smaller speakers would be a better choice cause they will be a higher quality. Sure with a small budget you could go big, but at a cost of quality. I agree, pyramid/pyle/rampage cheap systems are complete trash, and worthy of the ghetto title. Now dumping 5-10k on power accoustic/mtx/kicker/pioneer subs with a beautiful amp and a deh-9300, now that is VERY far away from being ghetto. I was referring to the quality of the system, not how loud it was. Besides, with over 3500 already into my truck I would be a "ghetto" boomer if I said what you misunderstood. Sorry for the confusion.

Message: No problem... I just don't like to promote stereotypes just because someone rolls up in a ground pounder blastin' Project Pat's "Chickenheads" or something similar...
It's all good... I think the only comment that got me was the one about "Sure 3 15"s with 1500watts can shake your car, but does it sound good?" Of course if they are high quality 15s like Rockford Fosgate Pro Series and a surfboard amp like a Hifonincs Colossus (or something similar), then HELL YEAH it's gonna sound good! LOL. That is... if you have enough mids/highs to balance it out some.
My biggest problem with "ghetto rides" as such classified, is when you put more money into your car stereo than what the car is actually worth. Kinda STUPID in my opinion... but hey, some people got more dollars than sense.
