Subject: Info on LED taillights/strobe lights. IP: Logged
Message: Hi guys. I was in circuit city today looking at amps, and saw a display holding all kinda bulbs and stuff for riceers. But I noticed a set of bulbs for brake lights. It was a direct plug in but instead of a regular bulb on the end, there were 12-14 red LEDs. Do you know if they work well? Are they brighter than stock bulbs? They were like $15. or so.
Also saw a strobe kit with 2 lights. About $30. cant remember if for a set of 2 or just for one tho. I am wanting to hook up strobes on my alarm flashers. The flashing parking lights are ok, but I think the blue strobes would be a bit more noticable.
Thanks for your input. please help...

Message: the LED taillgihts are supposed to be good if u have clear taillights or maybe even euros. If u have stock taillight (assemblies) i wouldn't bother. but the LEDs are supposed to be cooler (not as hot) as regular bulbs, so they're supposed to last long. when they're in euro lights or clears u can kinda tell the difference, but with stock assemblies u prolly wouldnt. i think they're a little brighter too.
But if u do get em, i definitely wouldn't goto circuit city for em! places like PepBoys or some import specialties shop will most likely have em cheaper. And for strobes, some strobes act differently. they're usually sold in pairs, and some brands light up together, but some light independently (with no steady rhythm). depends on what u want. i've seen em from $10-$20. dont spend $30! I'd look on ebay for this stuff. YOU'LL FIND ALOT ON EBAY!!!! for cheap.
Peace

Message: Ok heres the deal on those strobe lights. There show strobes they are not very bright. I'm Vol. Fire fighter/emt and have REAL MANS strobes. they are more expencive by far but I think they are worth the money. I've got a 6 head 60 watt strobe pack. That means you gat 10 watts a head. I've got the front markers and tail lights strobed. Even with only 10 wattsthey are still bright with the running lights on. A friend of mine has the show strobes and you can hardly see them with the running lights on. I got a what a deal for my set up. Didn't cost me a thing. But you can get a 6 head pack and 4 strobe heads for about $250. Just my two cents.

Message: Thank you for your input guys. You both said pretty much what i expected, you get what you pay for. About the leds, I think Ill let them go. Dont have, or even have found, clear tails for my 1990 Dak. Worken on that I think. About the strobes, I dont intend of running them when the truck is on. Just simply as a confirmation flash that my alarms been turned on. You know, the parking lights flash after you get out of the truck, and hit the arm button on your remote. Just thought a set of strobes in front and back would look sweet instead of the normal 2 flashes of the Parking lights.
Any other suggestions? Thanks again.
