Subject: CD Changer in the armrest. IP: Logged
Message: I got a '01 RC SLT was trying to figure out where to put an FM modulated CD changer. Then I thought that the storage compartment in the armrestof the 60/40 bench might be a good place. Anybody try this?
Also, Has anybody used bazooka self powered woofers? 1.) do they sound decent? and 2.) would a 6" tube fit behind the seat?
The sound system is good enough for my needs, I was just trying to figure out how to boost the botttom end without spending a ton.

Message: I dont know about the arm rest because of the wiring/ power cables, plus you wouldnt be able to life it up or anything with out messing it up. The six inch tube will fit easy behind the seat.

Message: Yeah.. I am wondering if there is a good location for a changer in my CC Dak... I just don't want to disrupt the back seat arrangement.
BTW, I didn't think of the armrest as an option since it actually moves up in down. In the 'Bird, I have a 6 disk changer in the armrest, but it is "fixed" armrest... so it's all good.
I really don't think I want to mount a changer under the dash on the passenger side either (since that would imply that any of my "guests" could change the "load" at their leisure...hee hee) so I guess that means I am kinda stuck as to locations that I can mount a changer in.
Maybe someone out there has a better idea on this.

Message: I was just looking at www.crtuchfield.com and they have MP3-CD players. I've got a about a 400+ LP (remember those). I was thinking about recording and making mp-3's recording onto a cd placing this portable deal in the arm rest and playing through the radio via an RF-modulator. 10 hours of music on a single CD-that's better than a reel to reel. My entire Barry manilow collection! (Just kidding) Thanx for the pointer.

Message: If you still want to do the six disc player you can put it in your glove box, my frined has one in there, then you do't have to worry about buying a remote one cause it should be able to connect to your cd player if it is aftermarket.

Message: What I did was I got a Pioneer 6 CD changer w/fm modulator mounted it behind the drivers seat. I couldn't figure out where to put the controller. It came with this little face plate mounting thing. I got a razor blade and cut out an opening in the arm rest. It turned out really pro. I had to whittle alittle bit of the plastic off of the face plate adaptor but the result was good. To top it off the controllor and the arm rest are the same shade of gray. Then I ran the wire through the arm rest. The best thing about this set up is that when the arm rest is up you can't tell it's anything but a stock radio. But if you want tunes you flop down the armrest and the controls are litterally ar your finger tips.
Hasta,
Dr.Q

Message: I had a panosonic 8 disc changer in my '97 sport, and it is very easy to install it through the armrest all you have to do is take your driver seat out and, have the wires from you player come up right by the seat belt wires and go under the arm rest through the little hole that is there, it's pretty simple(but i took the changer out after and went w/ a c.d. player deck there alot easier to work w/)---if you need any help e-mail me or get ahold of me on msn messenger--dday_8@hotmail.com

Message: Hmmmm... I am considering doing this, however I guess I have to decide whether or not I want to cut into the center console... cause once you do, this becomes a "permanent" modification (unless you can go to a junkyard and get another center console to replace the one you cut...

Message: I saved the piece of vinyl that I cut out of the armrest. I figure I'll probobly put it back and use one of those vinyl repair kits if I want to sell it without the changer.
