ok i just got some 16s for my truck, and i was wondering do tires really get taller the wider you go? this tire comparer thing ive been looking at says it does, like it said that 275/70/16 is like 2.5 inches taller than my stock 235/75/15, which i could see being a little taller, but not that much, but then it said that the 255/65/16 i was looking at are just about the same size? is that because of the wider tire, because i cant see a change in 10 aspect ratio would be the same size, even though the rim is 1 inch taller, thanx and let me know if you know anything, because i want to get the 275/70/16 but i dont want my speedo to be off by that much, it says mph would be like almost 6 mph difference at 80, thats alot and could get confusing, thanx in advance

235/75/15, 275/60/16, and 255/65/16 are about the same height. 275/70/16 is much taller. Wider is not always taller, the aspect ratio (2nd number) can make the difference.

The math looks like this:

275/70/16

275MM/25.4 mm/in * 2 * 0.70 + 16 = 31.15 in tall

275/60/16

275MM/25.4 mm/in * 2 * 0.60 + 16 = 29.0 in tall

255/65/16

255MM/25.4 mm/in * 2 * 0.65 + 16 = 29.0 in tall

235/75/15

235MM/25.4 mm/in * 2 * 0.75 + 15 = 28.9 in tall
