Message: ok I have a 98 dodge dakota and I am having problems with the paint. For some reason the paint will chip and i am not even 4 wheelin and it really sucks because everytime I wash it I notice another scratch or chip. Also what can I do to try to prevent it from chipping?,other than not driving it again.

Message: okay i am not the only one with paint issues here. thank god! i have no solutions for ya. but i have the same problem. i have a 98 black dakota which chips easily. but whats got me ticked, is that on the roof in the middle against the windshield, there is splotch of paint fading!!! and directly down the other end of the roof too!! i dont know what to do. only noticable after i wash it. seems to not come up as much though after a week or 2 of no washing. and i dont 4 wheel it. its a 4x2 so its a low street truck.
i'd love some advise on that issue too.

Message: well my dad works for chrysler in the paint group, let me talk to him see if theres any kind of warrenty that he would know about to get it repainted for free, back then i think they were having problems with the clearcoats, and the anti chip, but now the clearcoat is so hard, on the brand new trucks, its amazing hes showed me some of the test results and i dont think theyll be chipping anytime soon, so let me talk to him and see if i can help you out at all, later

Message: if you use a good polish system like mothers youll have no problem use the wax cleaner then the clay and finish it in the carbono wax. But to do this right you have to take your time and do it right. it should take you like 6 hours and the finish is amazing. its fast if you got a buffer.

Message: I don't think any polish or wax will fix the clear coat that has been peeling off my 99. I wax the truck about once a month. The POS paint job is the problem. If I fart to close to my truck the clearcoat flakes off.

Message: dang, this is pretty heavy. sad to hear so many of us have this same problem, but im glad im not the only one. perhaps they happened to fall under the same construction line ?? ya think? (fat chance... )
Well, maybe i will just take that paint off down the center line and put a fat strip over it starting from the hood emblem, or something.
BUt, okay so if i have no warrenty left on it, im basically SOL huh tWEeaked?? its just sucks because i have lowered it, so anyone above me will see it!! and that is embarrassing. it wouldnt be so bad if it was white, but my 98 is black. still love it though :)

Message: Yea I really hate it I just found some more chips on my driver side door. Its kinda sad too because my parents think I am 4 wheelin in it and they say I dont take care of it. I tell them that it is bull. I wash it and change the oil every 2,000 miles. Ok so back to the paint part. I really hope it is under some type of recall or under my warranty. It should though right? I have a 80,000 mile warranty and it is only at 42,000.
I wonder how much it would cost to repaint it.
Thanks,

Message: well my dad works for chrysler in the paint group and he says that if its chipping as bad as you guys say it is then it should be covered warrenty or not and should be able to repaint for free, but you must understand no car gets no stone chips, if you drive on dirt roads then of course your going to get a bunch of them, but if your paint is peeling have real excessive stone chips or anything is rusted through it should be covered and may take some persistence and maybe a couple calls to the dealer manager but should be able to get it covered, being persistent sometimes works, well good luck and let me know how it goes, hope this helps
