Message: Well, I noticed shortly after the install that I had condensation within the lense housing. Not sure how, although the housing does have vent holes (presumably to allow 'bulb'heat to escape.
I recently bought APC Super White bulbs to replace the stock taillight and parking light bulbs....and I decided to try and 'dry out' the inside of the housing. I thought at the time that rubbing alcohol would have no effect on plastic so I threw some in the housing in an attempt to get the residual water to evaporate quicker. Unfortunately, the "carbon fiber" seem to be nothing more than a decal type covering...which like to bubble up and peel away when it sees alcohol :-)
Another lesson learned...
Another unrelated note: Seeing that I am replacing them, as they look great on the yellow Dak...I notice the housing itself is very prone to scratches...or at least they show much more readily due to the lense being clear. With that in mind, I plan NOT to use car wash brushes on it anymore....which I had been doing to get the road salt of my truck.
I checked Matrix Racing, which usually stocks the carbon fiber style...but they do not have them in stock...I'm continuing my search today.
