Message: when I had mine, I bought a tube of Urethane windshield caulk. I put it in the caulk gun and applied a conservative amount to the stock bumper. make sure to clamp the sides in front of the tires to prevent it from peeling away....it sets up fast, in about an hour.....i thought that was better than the adhesive tape and pop rivets that they sent me!!!

Message: I to just recently purchased the stillen cover, and it is being painted as we speak. I think that if you never plan on selling your dak, cerecke has a good idea. However if you ever want to sell your truck, your screwed ,as that urethane is some strong stuff, and would be difficult to scrape off without damage to your stock bumper.Just push it on and secure it with the screws that are already there on the old bumprer. that way if you sell your truck you can take it off and sell it seperate. This would only make sense if you don't cut out the vertical bar's on your stock bumper.

Message: I removed the lower valance from mine when I put it on, but you are correct, that stuff is a PAIN to get off the bumper when it comes time to remove it.

Message: I have a 2001 r/t, and the b.cover covers the stock bumper cover. And yes ,the fog lamp holes line right up. I can only attest to my own application, not sure what you mean when you say metal bumper.

Message: I have the stillen, and it looks and fits great. My stock bumper is all urethane plastic. I also cut out notches for the stock vertical bars.

Message: jeff and hdrt2, the 2001+ dakotas changed the front bumper for some reason. 97-2000 have the top piece of the bumper as a seperate metal piece than the plastic valance. 01+ the whole thing is one plastic piece, pretty much just like the stillen bumper cover. Either way, u can either put the bumper cover over the stock front end for more stability, or on a 99, u can take the bottom valance off and just put the stillen bumper cover over the metal part. Hope this helps.
