Message: I`m guessing by the time you were finished doing an engine swap , it would be cheaper to get a different truck.
The engine would fit in the truck just fine , because the engine compartment is the same on all Dakotas. That would be the least of your troubles. You`d need the tranny , computer , exhaust system , motor mounts , wiring harness ,etc...

Message: go to www.car-part.com, pick up a 360 engine for 400-500 bucks, a tranny for 800, and a computer for 100......they have all that stuff there for those prices.......you could do a budget 360 setup for 1500 bucks plus installation and the other odds n ends

Message: Yea sound great , someone show me in print that you could do an engine swap for $1500.
I`m talking about a "looks factory-or better install" , not a backyard hack job. Also not done by a master mechanic with access to any and everything needed for a modern day engine...something done by an everyday joe with limited knowledge and money.
P.S. I`m also betting that "$800 engine" isn`t a complete engine , and will most likely not give R/T performance.

Message: I am looking into doing this on my 94. IT will cost a lot more. Those engines may run but you'll want to rebuild it most likely and that will cost a pretty penny. plus the time you will have into it. Talk to Drew about buying used engines from people. . . .

Message: I was giving a quick example of how easy it can be done....would I do it? Absolutely not, I have a block sitting here that will have over 3 grand into the SHORT block by the time I am done with it. and to you anonymous NOT posters.....it can be done for 1500 bucks...i dont know about you, but a good set of metric wrenches and sockets, an engine hoist and a little know how is all you need, now I dont consider any of those to be qualities of a MASTER MECHANIC....
as for an $800 engine....look at your local salvage yards and you will be surprised what 800 bucks will get you.....prolly something out of a truck or a van with under 30,000 miles. I dont even know why I am wasting my time supporting my argument with someone who doesnt even know what hes talking about

Message: i have a buddy whose dad installs enignes on the side, and he gave me a decent price for the installation work, i saw a R/T engine, tranny, computer, rear end, and all the works for about $1500 on ebay a couple of weeks ago, if i had the money then i would have grabbed that up.

Message: a lot of the times, its not what you know, its who you know......you find the right people, get the good deals and a little buck will get you a lotta bang.......no offense taken cory, I was just saying that you can go fast for cheap, but in the long run, the more you can spend on good speed parts, the better off you will be.
